Artificial intelligence servers have accounted for 1/3 of the world’s Dell became the first giant

The latest report on the global AI server market for Q2 2024 has been published by market research firm Counterpoint Research. The report reveals a compelling trend: the demand for AI servers has skyrocketed on the back of the AI technology boom, which in turn is contributing to the rapid growth of the overall server market.

AI Server Revenue and Market Share

Specifically, global server revenues soared to $45.422 billion in the second quarter of 2024, up 35% year-on-year, a remarkable increase that underscores the market’s thirst for advanced computing power.

Notably, AI servers have emerged as a key driver of this growth, with their share of all server sales approaching 30% in the second quarter.

In terms of the competitive landscape of the market, three major vendors – Dell, Supermicro and HPE – continue to dominate.

However, ODM direct sales dominate as Microsoft, Amazon, Google and Meta continue to customize their own servers.
