AMD revealed to be launching RDNA 4 discrete graphics cards under the Radeon RX 90X0 series name

X platform users @All The Watts!!!! It was revealed yesterday that AMD will be launching “RDNA 4” architecture discrete graphics cards under the Radeon RX 90X0 rather than RX 8X00 family name, with these cards expected to be officially unveiled as early as the upcoming CES 2025.

Previous benchmarks have suggested that AMD will name the graphics cards that come with its “Strix Point” processors as the Radeon 80X0S series, which means that both will use the same new “A0B0” name format (where A refers to the generation and B refers to the class, following the same naming logic as NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX gaming graphics cards).

The leaks claim that AMD will launch four sub-series levels of “RDNA 4” architecture discrete graphics cards, ranging from the RX 9070 at the top down to the RX 9040 at the bottom; the RX 9070 series (expected to be based on the stronger NAVI 48 core) will consist of two desktop products and three mobile products.

The higher-spec desktop Radeon RX 9070 XT will feature a 256bit memory bitwidth (expected to correspond to 16GB of RAM), which will be slightly better than the previous generation Radeon RX 7900 GRE, but lower than the RX 7900 XT, while the next level of the RX 9070, the “RDNA 4” solo, will feature a 192bit memory bitwidth (expected to correspond to 12GB of capacity), which will provide better performance than the previous generation RX 9070 GRE. The next “RDNA 4” solo, the RX 9070, will have a 192-bit memory bitwidth (expected to correspond to a 12GB capacity) and will have the same performance as the RX 7800 XT.

AMD’s “RDNA 4” disks based on the NAVI 48 core will be priced at $449-$649 (currently around $3,275-$4,734), while those based on the NAVI 44 core will be priced at $179-$349 (currently around $1,306-$2,546).

On the mobile side, AMD will introduce two standard mobile offerings in the Radeon RX 9070 series in the RX 9070M XT and RX 9070M with high and low positioning, and a model called the RX 9070S which is aimed at application scenarios such as thin and light gaming notebooks.

In addition, AMD is refreshing its “RDNA 3” architecture solo displays with the RX 7750/7650 series of cards, which will continue to assume a lower position in its discrete graphics lineup.
